Moguls Legacy

Mogul in real life was on of the most versatile designs of Nineteenth Century trains. Their design made them perfect for lighter density lines like branch lines and short lines. Capable of handling a variety of jobs and operating on lighter rail and sharper curves, they were ideal for the local freight or mixed train. As newer and larger steam locomotives took over on the main lines, these engines often held on until replaced by diesels.

For 2016 Lionel has continued to highlight the classic design in featuring many of the classic lines of the period.   Like the

Lionscale

LionScale is a NEW line of scale rolling stock that is decorated and assembled in LIONEL’S Concord, NC headquarters. Some of the great features of this new line are  die-cast trucks and operating die-cast couplers, designed for easy conversion to body-mounted scale couplers (scale couplers not included), designed for easy conversion to 2-rail (Lionel 2-rail conversion kits sold separately), accurate paint schemes and road numbers, opening side doors on boxcar, each case pack contains 6 unique road numbers, and bodies made of durable ABS plastic.

2016 additions to this Line include Railbox, BNSF, and CSX Modern Boxcar Packs, 3-Bay Offset Hopper packs featuring Boston & Maine, Baltimore & Ohio,  and Covered Hopper packs.

LionChief™ Plus

The LionChief™ Plus system is designed to give you all of the control options of LionChief™ PLUS the ability to run the locomotive via your conventional transformer as well. Now you can run the locomotive on any layout (Conventional, LionChief™, TMCC™, LEGACY™ – even competitors’ control systems) with your LionChief™ Remote, or flip a switch on the locomotive and run it as a conventional model.

LionChief™ Plus locomotives have more than just this added control option however. The LionChief™ system was designed to make operating model trains as easy as possible – no wires, no programming, self-explanatory controls, lots of fun in the palm of your hand. With LionChief™ Plus Lionel added many of the features found in higher end locomotives. These are a transition between an entry-level set and a high-end LEGACY™ model.

Additions to LionChief Plus include NW2 Diesel models, GP20 Diesel Models, and Rectifer Electric Locomotives.
